About Me

James Nored's Facebook profile
My name is James Nored. I have been married to my lovely wife, Becki, for seventeen years, and I have three lovely daughters-Gina (11), Emily (8), and our newborn, Kaylee. I have a passion for mission, preaching, outreach, connecting to postmodern culture, Spiritual gifts, and ministering to people--as well as Dallas-based sports teams!

I am the minister at the High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney, Texas, a suburban church of about 750 in North Dallas. I completed my Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theologial Seminary in Pasadena, CA. I have studied there with incredible missional leaders.

I like starting new ministries, such as this website, which is designed to bring together people across the world who have a passion for mission. I give Missional Church and Spiritual gifts seminars around the country, and I enjoy writing and developing missional resources. Some of my sites include: www.storyofredemption.com and www.YourSpiritualGifts.com.

Are Most of OurCongregations Choosing a Slow Death?

The stats are in, and those 18-30 are increasingly unlikely to "go to church." Recent polling shows 30 percent of this age church claims no religious affiliation at all. And in my own fellowship, Churches of Christ, this age group (and even Gen X, my own generation), is deserting our fellowship in droves. This saddens me greatly, and it is laid upon my heart to do everything possible to reach these generations.

Why are they leaving? A variety of…

Thank you, bro. Nored for posting the 3-part series on Why the Church of Christ is shrinking. I thoroughly enjoyed them and have recommended them to the ministers where I attend. Do you have dvds or written material on the study, you mentioned, about "Rsdemption?" I am going to invite them to this site.

I'm new to your website and a little behind the times. I see a few preachers leaving the coc changing the name to a new name with instrrumental music. I do believe in reaching out  to our neigbors, rather than a country club approach. We have been members at the same congreagation for 22 years and most of time I sitting with an occasial clas to teach. Two years ago God found me and put  in a place to provide spiritual  counselng to 1100 ( no not a church but the county jail.) I'm the part time Chapain.  I work during the day and we have 3 brothers that provide weekly bible studies to inmates usually in the evenings or weekends. Any suggestions would be helpful..

Thank you, brother, for maintaining this web site and posting your blogs.  I know it takes a lot of time.  But this is one of the benefits of the Internet age.  Maybe by discussion of ideas and different ways of looking at things, people can be led to challenge and grow beyond their own spiritual entanglements (we all have some) and continue on the path of the Spirit and not give up because of "the system."  Thank you for allowing me to participate in these discussions.  God bless.
