About Me

James Nored's Facebook profile
My name is James Nored. I have been married to my lovely wife, Becki, for thirteen years, and I have two lovely daughters-Gina (7) and Emily (4). I have a passion for mission, outreach, Spiritual gifts, people--and Dallas-based sports teams. Though on the latter, I am seriously questioning my sanity with all of these early round exits of the Cowboys and the Mavericks.

I am the minister at the High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney, Texas, a suburban church of about 800-900 in North Dallas. I am currently finishing up my Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theologial Seminary in Pasadena, CA, where I commute. I have studied there with incredible missional leaders such as Alan Hirsch, author of The Forgotten Ways, Reggie McNeal, Bob Logan, and Richard Peace.

I like starting missional movements, such as this website, which is designed to bring together people across the world who have a passion for mission. I give Missional Church and Spiritual gifts seminars around the country, and I enjoy writing and developing missional resources. Some of my sites include: www.storyofredemption.com and www.jamesnored.blogspot.com.

Reaching Out in Colorado and the American (non-)Religious West

Colorado, located in the Mountain West, represents a religious mindset far different from the Bible belt of America. People are independent, spiritual but not religious, tolerant, interested in nature, and belonging to "religions" of many different kinds, if they belong at all. Definitely a postmodern environment. Here is a link to an extensive religious survey of people in Colorado. 5280: A Religious…See More

This article, and the video above, highlights how churches like Christ Fellowship in McKinney, TX, are using the Internet and High Tech to reach out to the community. I am a Generation X guy, and our family was an early adopter of personal computers. I thought I had but guess not. Just changed the email address and didn't notice the city change. It is a little hard to find.

Hi James, it is great to be here.  I am the pastor of a traditional Baptist church but I have grown tired of the lack of connection with the community and the stance on "seperation."  I am looking to connect in a missional/incarnational way.  I have started 2 communities at my church and am looking for some friends and ideas.

Hi James. We are near the end of a two year mission study for our congregation. I went to a missional church conference back in November in San Francisco, and became interested in the missional church model for our congregation. Our two church leader groups are studying A Field Guide for the Missional Congregation by Rick Rouse and Craig Van Gelder. We hope to have a new vision and mission statement crafted by early fall after we complete the book, and some new ideas on reaching out to the world in Christ's name. Our congregation is holding its own, but is in need of reaching out to an un churched, "Spiritual but not religious" community. Our congregation is getting older, and we need to re do church, so that there will be a church here in 25 years:)

Thank you for the warm welcome!  I just want to learn what I can.  I am not in a missional church now, but am praying for one.  Trusting He will bring along some folks who also want that, in His timing!

 Hi James,

New Community Church is a multi-racial church in rural Georgia with a clear missional focus. We are a worshipping community on a mission, seeking to add value to our community of LaGrange as we serve Jesus together. Everything we're doing is a bit out of the box for our area so we're always looking for connections outside of our box.

Hi, James,

It was good to see you! Next time bring the family, right? We're members of CT Valley Church of Christ in Windsor, CT (the town between Hartford and Bradley Airport. You probably drove past it on the way to West Springfield).

See you!

Rick Rossing
