Hi James! Tonight I attended a Bible Study class at work tonight. The young man who had the scripture & lesson was reading about being predestined. His scripture was take form Paul's book to the Ephesians, Chapter 1:5. He believes God chooses some people to be saved and chooses others to be condemned!  His view was very different than mine. He got very upset with all us who didn't agree with him! I would like to know your understanding of this verse and the subject of predestination. Thank you!

I would love to see it!

Hey bro. Thanks for the welcome. I have a long story... I have pastored 2 churches, N MO and S GA. Currently, I am back in practice (chiropractic physician) and traveling some to minister: until the Lord gives us direction for the next step. We have transitioned from the traditional mindset of church to the more missional concepts. I am quite familiar with Liberty MO. Spent many hours in KC.

  • Rick Rossing

    Hi, James,

It was good to see you! Next time bring the family, right? We're members of CT Valley Church of Christ in Windsor, CT (the town between Hartford and Bradley Airport. You probably drove past it on the way to West Springfield).

    See you!

Glad to find this community!  Looking forward to connecting with more of the group soon!

  • Larry Asplund

     Hi James,

New Community Church is a multi-racial church in rural Georgia with a clear missional focus. We are a worshipping community on a mission, seeking to add value to our community of LaGrange as we serve Jesus together. Everything we're doing is a bit out of the box for our area so we're always looking for connections outside of our box.
  • Lisa Cain

Thank you for the warm welcome!  I just want to learn what I can.  I am not in a missional church now, but am praying for one.  Trusting He will bring along some folks who also want that, in His timing!

Hi James. We are near the end of a two year mission study for our congregation. I went to a missional church conference back in November in San Francisco, and became interested in the missional church model for our congregation. Our two church leader groups are studying A Field Guide for the Missional Congregation by Rick Rouse and Craig Van Gelder. We hope to have a new vision and mission statement crafted by early fall after we complete the book, and some new ideas on reaching out to the world in Christ's name. Our congregation is holding its own, but is in need of reaching out to an un churched, "Spiritual but not religious" community. Our congregation is getting older, and we need to re do church, so that there will be a church here in 25 years:)

  • Michael Gates

Hi James, it is great to be here.  I am the pastor of a traditional Baptist church but I have grown tired of the lack of connection with the community and the stance on "seperation."  I am looking to connect in a missional/incarnational way.  I have started 2 communities at my church and am looking for some friends and ideas.

Hello, things are great here in Greenville NC. It is just too hot of course.

I have all my life been involved in Pentecostal Holiness Churches. I am presently getting interested in the Hebraic roots of the Bible after really reading and studing the OT. God has taught me things I never really knew and I am excited about all He is teaching me. It all started with my asking God to show me in the Bible what happened to the sabbath day and I read day and night for 9 months the whole bible and fasted and prayed for truth. Out of one question I have learned more than I ever knew plus got the answer I was seeking.

I am retired and 60 yrs. old and it is never to late to open your eyes and seek truth from the Lord. I am not interested in tradition and what man thinks is right but what thus says the Lord.

Joel Petty sent out a letter today and there was a link there: http://www.missionaloutreachnetwork.com/profiles/blogs/why-are-youn...

I read the article and found out about this website.

Recently we baptized 2 people from another city. To our knowledge there is no church of Christ there. Now we are thinking how to do follow up. We plan to make a team and go to that city to plant a church.

Thanks for the add James.  I look forward to some good discussions.  You can read more about us and listen to a few podcasts on www.healingcommunities.org

  • theophilus.dr

Thank you, brother, for maintaining this web site and posting your blogs.  I know it takes a lot of time.  But this is one of the benefits of the Internet age.  Maybe by discussion of ideas and different ways of looking at things, people can be led to challenge and grow beyond their own spiritual entanglements (we all have some) and continue on the path of the Spirit and not give up because of "the system."  Thank you for allowing me to participate in these discussions.  God bless.

  • Bill Sheppard

I'm new to your website and a little behind the times. I see a few preachers leaving the coc changing the name to a new name with instrrumental music. I do believe in reaching out  to our neigbors, rather than a country club approach. We have been members at the same congreagation for 22 years and most of time I sitting with an occasial clas to teach. Two years ago God found me and put  in a place to provide spiritual  counselng to 1100 ( no not a church but the county jail.) I'm the part time Chapain.  I work during the day and we have 3 brothers that provide weekly bible studies to inmates usually in the evenings or weekends. Any suggestions would be helpful..

  • Jennie Johnson

Thank you, bro. Nored for posting the 3-part series on Why the Church of Christ is shrinking. I thoroughly enjoyed them and have recommended them to the ministers where I attend. Do you have dvds or written material on the study, you mentioned, about "Rsdemption?" I am going to invite them to this site.
  • Gurram.Babu

  • Ben Skutt

2d/3d artist at pixo entertainment, yes sir that's me.
  • Ben Skutt

Yes! I very much like what I do.

I found the site from an article about why young people are leaving the church. I had a response prepared but didn't feel up to it a few days later, because my response would have been strongly contrarian and wasn't sure it would have been constructive.
  • Ben Skutt

I'd like to be and have been trying a place to fit in with some difficulty, partially my own partially external. My demographic doesn't feel like a focus with the Church; It's like they don't know what to do with us.
  • Ben Skutt

My age group is looking for deep spiritual fulfillment. Often what we get is surface and disingenuous and I think we get that because the church thinks we are surface and disingenuous. But we aren't. You mentioned Apple in you article about how the church is missing the mark in communicating with my generation, but I felt after reading the article that you may have missed the reason Apple resonates with many of us. Take a listen to this, it sums up how I feel pretty well: http://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_acti...
I've given it a lot of thought and this is just one piece, but it's a good place to start.
  • Devanand Medapaty

Thank you Brother for your kind request. I am very glad to have you my friend and brother in Christ. I am inviting you to view my profile and website

Hi Brother, can you post the video of your last Sunday sermon -" love your God , love people and change the world" ? if possible ?

yes it is a responsibility of every Christian to love God and love people to change the world by taking the Gospel to perishing souls .

Thank you for your love, your tools and for Bibles for India work .

  • Wes Force

Thanks! My wife and I are both teachers in our public school system, so we believe this - in and of itself - is missional. I've also participated in three mission trips to Dzerzhinsk, Ukraine. This experience has had quite an impact on my perspective of missional outreach, and the role it plays in sharing Jesus with others. As an insightful friend once said - "If we meet their physical needs first, the spiritual needs will take care of themselves."

  • Jayaraj.E

Hi Brother! I already completed all parts of Telugu Translation against your revised parts. but now I am checking for typing mistakes. Ok.I will send first lesson tomorrow. Thank you .
