Stanley,
A very interesting article in light of a) the recent survey on the rise of atheism and b) the survey by Barna that onlly 9% of adults have a Christian worldview. I do believe he is correct on the increasing antagonism of the political class to Christianiy. Christians will increasingly be pushed to the margins. However, I don't know ( and don't believe he does) whether the push to "missional" congregations will fail as dramatically as he indicates. Certanily, traditional modern methodologies of "doing church" will lead to a "die-out" of those adhering to those principals.

Thanks, Stan for this article. It was enjoyable reading. I tend to agree with Paul concerning the adaptability of Evangelicalism. The author hypothetically projects into the future by intuiting the trends. I respect his creativity.

The article is called: The coming evangelical collapse.

Copy and Paste; it worked for me; can't tell why the previous link did not work.

Thank you Stanley and thank you Lynn for all of that valuable information and information about those books. I'll definetly look out for what y'all said about Unchristian. And I'll be sure to buy They Like Jesus But Not The Church too.
And yes, we need to be careful how we act around post-moderns. Apparently many of them are being turned off by how we act. We got to be careful that we live the way we're supposed to. We need to watch our lives and doctrine closely so we'll be saved and our hearers will to (as Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy). Thanks Stanley and Lynn! God bless! Grace and Peace.

Lynn, Many years ago the pioneer preacher Gilbert Tennant, a spiritual forefather to Barton W. Stone, preached a sermon called: "The Dangers of an Unconverted Ministry" (1740), in which he urged members to leave churches where the pastor (leaders) did not show signs of "vital piety" in their lives. However, we slice it today, the people are leaving in search for "vital piety."

Ithink what say about most churches is correct. However I would suggest it is the leadership(elderships) that is the problem. Unfortunately there is not an undeerstanding of traditional structures and theology/doctrine.

Lynn, you are kind: most of the words are not mine but come straight from the book, but you are right about the other book, too. I don't want to be a part of a church that looks like what these books describe. But, alas, I'm not finding much different in any institutional churches, ours or others. I've recently had several conversations with church leaders and the overwhelming concern is to keep the Titanic from sinking but the only remedy allowed is rearranging the chairs so people are more comfortable as the ship sinks. But whatever you do, don't mess with the structural design of the ship.

Zach,
Stantley has summarized the points in that book very well . Another companion book you might what to read is "They Like Jesus but not the Church.".Some of the same points are made.

Thank you for that Stanley! I'll look for that while reading the book. God bless!
