Do you really know them? No, I mean really do you know them?

Quote of the night from Celebrate Recovery (used by permission)

After being at CR for about 2 months now, a new man came to group and said, "Well, I went to my home church last Sunday night and told them, after being here for more than 20 years I just wanted to tell you, you don't know me!" To the total shock of the crowd, he told them he was a drug addict. Since he doesn't fit the stereotypical role of "skid row", but is a productive member of the community and their church, you can imagine the shock. So what's the point? Two things: being at CR brings such freedom you want everybody to know you are on the pathway to recovery. Second, do you really know who your sitting next to on Sunday morning, I mean, really?

That's why I love the first Thursday night of the month I "get to" be around people who "get it." And there in lies the twist I really don't like meetings but know they are necessary. The only exception to this is our 1st of the month Thursday CR leaders. once again last night it was the highlight of my month. To be in the room with people who love the hurting because they themselves know that they have been delivered from a life of pain is overwhelming. Also a bonus every month is recognizing the servant of the month. Last night it was Lisa who when she got here three years ago wasn't sure if she would ever get over the pain that poor decisions and alcohol had brought on in her life. But she is no longer a victim but a victor and it all started with a decision to give her life to Jesus! Next came the decision to serve ,1st washing dishes then to becoming a small group leader! She just keeps on serving and I've never seen her without a smile. Thanks Lisa! Now it's time to get ready to see who Gods going to send to CR tonight! It may be another Lisa.
Peace Mac
