This was something our church did over the summer. We looked for people going above and beyond and then at the end of the summer we selected several to give awards to. We also encouraged members to give something on the spot with a business card with the award and information. The goal was to encourage people we ran across who were hard working and helpful. Unfortunately this is a value that our culture is losing and it concerns us. The award has had great impact and was followed in the local paper.
