Where should I start?

Thought I might introduce myself to this group by showing you one of the few places I hang out at...

I write for Examiner.com as the "LA Church & State Examiner."

Here is one big praise report to give in the battle to hold ground on the freedom to say Jesus' name in public:

Tehachapi City Council votes 5-0 for opening prayers to stay

I also wanted to include this note I received from the Mayor of Tehachapi:

Thank you so much for your article and your support. I am very proud of our Council and their decision to stand firm and protect the freedoms our founding father fought so diligently to provide. We must not allow our freedoms to be threatened in such a manner.

It is so encouraging to hear of individuals like yourself with strong Christian principles involved in the media to ensure that the truth is being made known. Keep up the great work!

Praise God for stirring you to take a stand for Him in your city, for giving you favor with the Mayor, and for the city council unanimous vote in favor of prayer. Thanks for sharing this. It's an encouragement to us to be a light for the Lord, not only in international missions, but in our local areas.

Comment by Alex Murashko Jr on September 27, 2009 at 10:36pm: We respond as intelligently as we can...relying on God and the Holy Spirit for wisdom in our interactions. It is important to be both aware of how God is working amongst us and how the enemy is trying to work amongst us.

We respond in truth and everything we've learned as Christians that is true and loving.

Comment by James Nored on September 27, 2009 at 8:21pm: Alex, this sounds like very interesting work. We certainly are moving away from a nation that publicly supports Christianity. It is a good sign that people still desire to keep prayer in these meetings. As support for this goes below 50%, how do you think that we should respond? Do we know how to be Christians in a non-Christian world?
