DEW - Disciple Makers, Equippers, and Witnesses. 5 QUESTIONS

DEW - Disciple Maker, Equipper, and Witness. These three spheres of mission in the NT are either considered as stages in one overarching goal, separate functions for different members within the church, or a complete set of requirements for every individual believer.

5 QUESTIONS

1. Are there any other ways in which you would describe these three spheres?

2. Is it possible for a church to exist in areas 1, 2, or 3?

3. Is it possible for and individual within the church to exist in areas 1, 2, or 3?

4. What would you call the RED ZONE?

5. Are there any inherent weaknesses in areas 1, 2, or 3?

For clarification on #2:  For the Church to be the Church, can it function as mean to if it is only witnesses and disciple makers or if it is only equippers and witnesses etc?  Can the church exist and only function in 2 of the three spheres?

The same for individuals within the church.  This begs other questions, I am sure, but that should help clear it up.

As to whether they are the best things to combine, that is why I posted it here.  For the feedback of others.  Without being overly pragmatic, it is when we have gotten people into the ? zone, we have seen explosive results.  Explosive as in a rapidly expanding movement which continues to go out from the center.

Miguel, I'll give these a shot.

  1. Are there any other ways in which you would describe these three spheres?
Make disciples of Jesus, be witnesses for Jesus, equip to help people be like Jesus
  2. Is it possible for a church to exist in areas 1, 2, or 3?
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Can you further explain?
  3. Is it possible for and individual within the church to exist in areas 1, 2, or 3?
  4. What would you call the RED ZONE?
    Apostolic?
  5. Are there any inherent weaknesses in areas 1, 2, or 3?
I'm not quite sure that these are the best things to combine. I think that i would probably combine the 5 different versions of the Great Commission in the gospels and the book of Acts.
    - Matthew - make disciples as you go, baptizing and teaching
    - Mark - don't be afraid to tell
    - Luke/Acts - be witnesses
    - John - sent

I see Eph. 4:11 as a separate category as these versions of the Great Commission, though it does overlap in parts.
