The above video shows the persecution that Christians face around the world for their faith. We need to especially pray for those Christians who are working in Muslim countries, as their lives are in danger.
While we in America do not face death for our faith, we should nevertheless know that if we are seeking to do God's will, we will face persecution. Jesus said this to his disciples:11“Blessed are you when people insult you,persecuteyou and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you" (Mt. 5:11-12).
Notice that Jesus does not say "if" you face persecution, but "when."
I work with a lot of churches and people who want to reach out, and I am thrilled to do this.
But I need to do a better job preparing people for the persecution that they will face as soon as they begin to reach out. Satan does not want anyone to reach out. He wants a church and a people that is inward-focused, not involved in the community, and that ignores the lost around them. I have felt this assault at the churches in which I've worked as we started to reach out to the community. I've seen it in the lives of new converts. I've seen it happen here and overseas.
The solution is preparation of our hearts and minds for this assault, and prayer for spiritual defense against Satan and his attacks. This is why a prayer ministry is essential in any outreach effort--not just for spiritual offense (breaking down barriers), but also for spiritual defense.
