25 Days Until Israel! - Hebron: Where David Was Crowned King, Abraham Purchased a Field, Herod Built Buiding

The city of Hebron, which is not far outside of Jerusalem, is one of the most ancient cities of the world (Num. 13:22). The city is linked most especially to three people: Abraham, David, and King Herod the Great. The Cave of Machpelah / Cave of the Patriarchs is the piece of land that Abraham purchased to bury his wife, Sarah, and he, Isaac, and Jacob were all buried there.

King Herod built the current building at Cave site over the cave. This building is the only fully intact building built by Herod the Great. And while the Temple is destroyed, if one wanted to get a sense of what the temple building might have been like, one can look at this building.

Hebron is where David was anointed king, and he ruled from there seven  years, until he conquered the rest of his kingdom and moved its headquarters to Jerusalem.
