About Me...

I am 26, married to my best friend, Kris, and am getting used to being a dad. I have one son, Samuel Malachi and we are expected our next child in late January. I write occasionally at a collaborative missional blog for Churches of Christ (BecomingMissional.org). I have also begun a new website with an emphasis on Spiritual Formation (www.SpiritualReFormation.com) I hope to begin graduate work at Denver Seminary in the spring working on an academic MDiv in New Testament and doing a master's thesis on a missional reading of Luke-Acts with Dr. Craig Blomberg. From there I am hoping to move on to Princeton to study under Dr. Darrell Guder or to Luther Seminary to do a PhD in Missional Congregational Leadership. I am the communications ministry leader at the Northwest Church of Christ (NWCofC.com) in Westminster, Colorado where I teach classes and work on creative ways to connect faith, spiritual formation, and various mediums in relevant and effective ways. I read probably too much, love chinese food, and am both the life of the party and a closet nerd. (My wife doesn't think it is that much of a secret.) My passion is to the see the church rediscover its missional identity and to become increasingly the sent community that we find in the pages of the New Testament.

Re-Thinking Church

There are those in Christendom who would suggest that absolutely everything about the church in North America is broken far beyond repair and the only way to move forward is to "rethink", "reimagine", and/or "redefine" church. My first question to those who would make such a sugg… Continue

Great to hear from you again. I'm headed to the NE for about 20 days to work with churches and some of the OA teams. Sending some interns up that way this summer. Pray for harvesters.

What are you up too and where?
Love you,
Marvin

Hi Michael. How have you been? I have not heard from you in awhile.

I'm supposed to meet with Brady Bryce down at ACU in a couple of weeks, and we'll talk about Quest then.

Cute baby video!

Michael,

Please forgive me for not responding immediately to your question. I have been a delinquint "participant" to this missional network. I read about your work and ministry in Denver from you homepage. I anticipate getting to know you. My ministry website is www.missionalive.org and my academic site is www.missiology.org. Blessings.

Hi Michael. Did you see that Alan Hirsch joined the site? Of course, he is very busy, but he drops by my blog every once in a while. Just thought you might be interested and might have missed him.

I saw those four themes on you blog. I hope that you'll share back with us how your audience is responding to these themes and the missional concept.

No, we are starting a new series tomorrow on Jesus which we've invited people to. I always go through things Saturday night.

Hey Michael. How goes your class prep for tomorrow?

Michael, tell me about your church. I checked out your site. I see that you have some good service ministries, like divorce and grief care. It is interesting that there are no ministers or leaders listed.

Michael, 10 will work but will be 11 for me. I believe you are on MT time and we are now on CST. Stan

Hi Michael. Great to have you start some groups. You will probably want to invite people into these groups for the discussion. When you are in a group, you get updates when posts or comments are made. Use the Invite function inside the group to do this. (On the right inside the group page.)
