Nelson Mandela wisely said: “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. The Sports Ministry/Evangelism Project Implemented by Africa Youth Ministries brings together mostly children and youth from the 8 Post War Northern Uganda Districts of Adjumani, Amur, Gulu, Kitgum, Oyam, Lamwo, Lira & Pader that were worst affected by the 21 years of the civil armed conflict between the government of Uganda and the Lord Resistance Army rebels between 1986-2007. The project uses sport as a platform to teach for evangelism as well as for discipleship and necessary peace building skills with emphasis on: dialogue, conflict resolution, tolerance, forgiveness, reconciliation, non violence, as important ingredients for Sustainable Peace-building. On reconciliation, we strongly base our sports ministry on Psalms 147:3 “He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds”
